Our services at a glance
Recruitment and Referral Service
Our primary service is referral of volunteers. Our interview staff spend quality time with volunteers to ascertain their motivation for volunteering and match them to appropriate positions. In the last 19 years we have seen over 26,000 people seeking voluntary work. A survey of these people indicated that a significant proportion would not have volunteered had it not been for Volunteer Wellington. To provide further accessibility this recruitment and referral service is also available on line.
Sourcing volunteers can be a difficult task for groups to do individually, requiring considerable resources. Your support of Volunteer Wellington will assist us to continue to facilitate the efficient process of sourcing and referring more people to our member organisations and making our communities stronger and more vibrant.
Training
The management of volunteers is a professional field of expertise. Volunteer Wellington provides training and consultancy services to community organisations in the management of volunteers. Half and full day workshops are delivered by facilitators who have a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and expertise in the area of volunteer management. We also provide advice and assistance with defining volunteer roles, writing job descriptions and work agreements - all part of an effective volunteer programme.
Managers' Network Forums
Network forums are held on relevant issues facing managers of volunteers. These are an excellent opportunity for professional development and networking with other managers of volunteers in your community. The forums are held from 12.00pm to 2.00pm.
Newsletter
Two monthly newsletters are produced to keep you up to date with the latest information, issues and events.
Website
Our website provides local and international information and perspectives on volunteering and an opportunity to advertise your voluntary positions to a diverse and wide audience.
Outreach - Porirua and Hutt Valley Branches
We opened branches in Porirua and Lower Hutt to make sure the many important community organisations in these regions have access to skilled, motivated and committed volunteers. Volunteer Porirua and Volunteer Hutt are open three days a week to meet your volunteering needs. We also provide training workshops and forums in these regions.
Member Liaison Programme
The Liaison Programme provides an opportunity for our representatives to meet you in person, experience your working environment and ensure we have the necessary information to fulfill your volunteering needs. Capacity building results from this exchange of knowledge and experience.
Employees in the Community
This programme offers community organisations the opportunity to have a project undertaken by a group of corporate employee volunteers, e.g. paint buildings, landscape gardens, develop a marketing plan or website, etc.
